Design in Edu is a blog put together by Matt Miller @dropstepdunk and Dave Ballinger. The page started out as a personalized professional development project for our own benefit. It has been transformed into ideas on how to get the elements of Graphic Design into the classroom.
During the day, Matt teaches 6th grade social studies and coaches basketball and track. In the evenings, he moonlights as a graphic designer. Matt got his start in graphic design through learning the process of screen printing and eventually was a production artist in a large screen print facility. Today, he mostly does freelance work.
Dave is a middle school art teacher by day and professional artist by night. His artwork consists of “paper-cuts” created with an x-acto knives and paintings created with spray paint, stencils, and markers. Dave’s artwork can be seen on his website.
